    1. Jerry Brainum I don’t know why you think you know what you’re talking about but the reality is including myself lot of people finding from L-Arginine benefits lowering blood pressure improving erectile dysfunction circulation and cleaning arteries so some of the things you say is just nonsense.

    2. omg… reading this and seeing it was posted 2 years ago and hearing Jerry’s talk about blood thickening, it is no wonder the horrible death he had. On top of having massive steroids, he apparently took “recreational” drugs. His heart not surprising could not handle the stress. Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. Just not worth it. Stay natural and age gracefully.

  1. Hi Jerry,

  2. Towards the end of the video, you mention taking beet juice plus 3-4 cups of coffee plus 5 g of creatine and then 0.03g/Kg of baking soda to kilograms of body weight about 30-45 minutes before workouts. I am already taking 5 g creatine about 30 minutes before workouts and want to try the beet juice/coffee/creatine combo (I’ll leave out the baking soda for now), how much beet juice should be taken (to go along with the other amounts mentioned) and is there any reason not to mix my creatine directly in the beet juice? (otherwise, that’s a lot of liquid). Thank you so much for these videos, I am here through Ric Drasin’s YouTube videos, and have now subscribed to both. (I am 58 yrs old, 5’11″/205 lbs. and workout 4-5 times per week.)

    1. +massif20022000 Drink 8 ounces of beet juice 2 1/2 hours prior to training. It can be mixed with creatine. Please consider subscribing to my Applied Metabolics newsletter (www.appliedmetabolics.com) for much more in-depth information about nutrition, exercise science, supplements, anti-aging science, fat-loss techniques, and more.

  3. 42:55…… Wouldn’t Sodium Bicarbonate neutralize the stomach acid needed to process beet juice in such a way to boost NO?

    1. Jerry I have the same question. you stated earlier that stomach acid needs to be present for this to work properly so why would baking soda be added?

    2. It’s an either/or situation. You can ingest the beet juice or or the baking soda, but not both. Sorry about the confusion.

  4. You my man are the best most informative person I have found on youtube when it comes to debunking health and fitness myths. You bring hard facts and experience to the table. Thank you for sharing your knowledge you need more views and subs man, I never sub to any one but I had to give you mine.

  5. I take my antioxidants immediately after a workout along with my protein shake. Is that timing hurting my gains? Should I take them a few hours away from my workout? If so – how many? Is before or after the workout in the day preferable? Thanks, Jerry!

    1. Jerry Brainium I have a question. you stated that stomach acid should be present for beet juice to be converted to NO. So why would baking soda be added? wouldn’t that have a negative effect on NO production?

    2. Yes but as he stated above that taking beet juice must be at least 2-3 hours prior to workout. That should be enough time before taking the baking soda which I heard is at least an hour prior to workout. Ive seen some take baking soda 30 min. prior pre-exercise.

  6. Jerry Thank you, for teaching all us in the simplest way of understanding the tricky topics of nutrition and keeping us from wasting our hard earned money on rubbish. and using your time to educate us.

  7. that is why you need l citriline  the L Citriline recycles the Arginine. Up to 36 hours. There is Scientific research on this.. go look up the hughes  research center and look up the science..

  8. I’m 65 years old, had a stent installed for blocked artery in 2000. I also have had hypertension for about 20 years. I’ve tried all the common types of prescription BP med’s, with some combinations. For several years prior to my stent, I would get out of breath under mild exertion. The stent fixed that problem. Several years ago this problem returned, sporadically. Since I was prescribed nitro glycerin while awaiting my stent, I decided to try some NO boosting supplements. I tried several of the most popular listed in the body building websites – no effect. Earlier this year I discovered NEO40, which includes beet extract, citrulline, etc. Although it hasn’t lowered my BP, I have noticed more energy under normal daily activities (my walking pace has picked up, I sit up straighter at my computer) – and I no longer get out of breath under exertion that would have had me sitting down to rest before. The same company makes Super Beets, which I tried before the NEO40 to see if it might lower my BP. Per blood tests, it did increase my potassium levels a great deal. It had no effect on my BP, so I guess my hypertension is caused by something else.

    1. George Ruff look up Dr Berg. up your intake of potassium thru avacado and kale greens. eat up to 10 cups(ounces of kale a day. you need almost 500mg of potassium a day. also eat only sea salt. no table salt. eat foods or natural supplements with selenium and chromium. get all carbs(sugar) out of your diet. keep your total carb intake under 50g a day. user xylitol or erythritol as your sugar. they are natural sugar alcohols and are actually healthy for you.

    2. i Hello im from morocco , im a researcher i now what you have , it s called ” insulin resistance ” called to “metabolic syndrome ” or ” syndrom x ” , for relieve your symptoms i can give you some medication and advices that work for decease your blood pressure .

    3. George Ruff Eric bergs blog has some good suggestions. But you should check your vitamin D3 levels – if low supplement and/or daily sunlight with food grade vitamin K2 supplement or k2 food like Natto cheese. Also, consider fish oil supplement or food for the essential omega fatty acids which is very helpful for the cardio vascular health and blood pressure. It also prevents hair loss and promotes hair growth.

  9. So, it took 49 minutes to say “drink caffeinated beet juice”. LOL!

Seriously, valuable information. Thanks for the vid.

    1. Some people might be deficient in oxalate degrading bacteria (Oxalobacter and possibly some Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli).

  10. I have found that when I have a lot of gas when I am in the gym, that when I fart at the same time I am exerting myself on the concentric part of the movement such as on squats, that the farting actually feels like I am getting a boost on the way up. So you can actually get a boost from farts. This is scientific fact.  A typical fart is composed of about 59 percent nitrogen, 21 percent hydrogen, 9 percent carbon dioxide, 7 percent methane and 4 percent oxygen. Only about one percent of a fart contains hydrogen sulfide gas and mercaptans, which contain sulfur, and the sulfur is what makes farts stink.
Farts make a sound when they escape due to the vibrations of the rectum. The loudness may vary depending on how much pressure is behind the gas, as well as the tightness of the sphincter muscles. So farts in a sense are in part a “Nitrogen Boost.”

    1. ULTIMATE VATO Hahahaha! Your comment makes a lot of sense! I started eating more beans, avocado, and burritos, and have dramatically noticed positive gains due to farting, specially on deadlifts, and squats! Thank you!!!!
