L-Arginine Benefits For Bodybuilding?

L-Arginine supplements have been very popular in the bodybuilding world over the past 10-15 years and are typically found in pre-workout formulas or consumed on their own. Supposed l-arginine benefits range from increased nitric oxide production to improved growth hormone output to "perpetual pumps" that you'll carry with you all throughout the day.

But are these l-arginine benefits backed by science? Does l-arginine work, and does it really make you bigger like all the crazy supplement ads say?

My L-Arginine Review:

In reality, not a single shred of actual research exists that shows these supposed benefits of l-arginine to hold up in the real world, and my suggestion is to save your hard-earned money and spend it elsewhere.

The reason for this is simple…

In order for nitric oxide to be produced in the body, you need both the enzyme ("eNOS") and the substrate (l-arginine). It is the reaction between these two that produces N02. However, in healthy people, it is eNOS that is the limiting factor in nitric oxide production and NOT l-arginine. So, consuming l-arginine supplements and adding more into the bloodstream does not increase nitric oxide, since the body already has plenty for this purpose and would actually need more eNOS for this to occur. In other words, trying to use l-arginine for pump increases is totally useless.

On top of this, there is no research that demonstrates any relationship between l-arginine powder and HGH (human growth hormone) increases to a level that would actually positively affect muscle growth or performance.

At the end of the day, the benefits of l-arginine are a total exaggeration and come down to nothing more than basic marketing hype. Don't bother using l-arginine pre-workout or at any other time for that matter, as it's almost certainly doing nothing except draining your wallet.

I hope you found this l-arginine review useful.
